The team at ThriftyTourist.ca spent a few hours researching but unfortunately it looks like there are currently no discount passes available for Victoria, BC attractions and tours. Until recently there was something called the CityPassport which provided discounts of up to 50% on attractions and restaurants in Victoria, but that program no longer exists. Bummer. But there could be hope…
Save up to 20% on over 20 Victoria attractions…
…with a Royal BC Museum annual membership
We may have been unable to uncover discount coupons, passes and tickets to Victoria, BC attractions but we did find something that might do the trick. It’s an annual membership for the Royal BC Museum which is located in Victoria.
Here’s how it might work for you.
When you buy an annual membership for the Royal BC Museum you get all year round admission to the museum PLUS, in most cases, 20% off the admission to over 20 other attractions.
Note: the day we were on the museum website the discounted list featured 24 attractions. But the museum says the list is updated frequently, so the number of attractions could include even more when you buy your annual membership.
Obviously if you’re planning a week or longer stay in Victoria, you’ll have the time to visit a lot of these attractions. If this is the case for you, buying the Royal BC Museum annual membership may make sense.
Here’s the list of all of the attractions that the annual membership gives you a discount on so you can do the math and see if a membership is right for you.
Check Groupon for deals on Victoria BC things to do
If, after crunching the numbers, getting an annual membership to the Royal BC Museum doesn’t make sense for your visit to Victoria, your next best bet is to check the Groupon website.
Visit the Victoria Groupon page and you’ll find savings of up to 70% on attractions, tours, boat cruises and theatre tickets. Chances are good you’ll find a few good deals on things you would like to do.
Viator may have a sale on the Victoria outing or attraction you want
In addition to Groupon before we visit a city we always check the Viator website too. We recommend you do the same as you may discover Viator has negotiated a discounted price for a Victoria, BC attraction or tour that will appeal to you.
Get last minute tickets to a concert or game
You never know who might be in Victoria playing a concert or show, or what sporting event could be going on. A great, reliable source for last minute tickets is Stubhub.
Naturally your first assumption will be that if you use StubHub you’ll end up paying more money for your ticket than the face value. That will likely be the case or you could try this tip…
THRIFTY TIP: if you’re willing to roll the dice and have a little nerve in your spine, wait to buy your ticket close to the show’s start time or even just a few minutes after the curtain has risen. You might get lucky and find a desperate seller who has dropped their price.
Conclusion
It’s unfortunate that the CityPassport discount pass is no longer available in Victoria. But if you take advantage of the attractions discounts that come with an annual membership to the Royal BC Museum or invest some time in reviewing what Groupon or Viator have to offer, you should be able to find some savings on things to do in Victoria.
